Building a Concrete Company from Zero to $300K in Its First Year

Colin Carter had an experienced crew and no way to find customers. We built his brand, website, advertising, and follow-up systems from scratch, and by the end of his first season he had passed $300K in revenue with jobs booked two months out.

CBUS Concrete case study: Building a Concrete Company from Zero to $300K in Its First Year
$300K+Revenue in Year One
$65Cost per Exclusive Lead
8x+Return on Every Ad Dollar

Colin's first year ended with more than $300K in booked revenue. Google Ads generated exclusive leads for under $65 each, nearly 70% of those leads turned into on-site estimates, and more than 1 in 3 estimates became booked jobs. The systems we built handled scheduling and follow-up automatically, so Colin ran the entire operation from his phone while he was in the field pouring concrete.

The Challenge

Colin Carter left a career in commercial real estate development to start his own concrete business. He had an experienced crew ready to work and nothing else: no brand, no website, no reviews, and no way to generate leads. Every week without a full schedule meant his crew sat idle and the business lost money.

The Goal

Build the CBUS Concrete brand from scratch and create a steady pipeline of good jobs to keep the crew fully booked through the season, with $200K in first-year revenue as the target.

Our Strategy

A Website That Turns Visitors into Estimates

We designed and built cbusconcrete.com to do one job: turn homeowners researching concrete work into booked estimates.

The site shows real project photos, explains each service in plain language, and makes requesting a quote effortless from any phone. More than 1 in 5 visitors become a lead. Behind the site we built a custom CRM with automated text and email, a quoting and estimating system, and job scheduling, so every lead lands in one place instead of scattered across voicemails and sticky notes.

Google Ads That Generate Exclusive Leads

Every lead went only to CBUS Concrete, at a cost of under $65 each, instead of being sold to four competing contractors.

Platforms like Angi and HomeAdvisor sell the same lead to three or four contractors, who then race each other to the bottom on price. Every lead from our Google Ads campaigns belonged to CBUS Concrete alone. We reviewed the actual search terms every day and cut wasted spend aggressively, which kept the cost per lead under $65 and returned more than $8 in booked revenue for every $1 spent.

Showing Up First in Local Search

The website and Google Business Profile were built to capture homeowners searching for concrete work in Columbus organically.

We built the site around the searches homeowners actually make, like concrete driveway Columbus Ohio, and kept the Google Business Profile active with service areas, project photos, and a steady stream of new reviews. Organic leads compounded over the season and reduced how much Colin needed to spend on ads to stay fully booked.

Follow-Up That Never Sleeps

AI agents answered new leads instantly, nurtured the quiet ones, and scheduled estimates around the clock without Colin touching his phone.

Most contractors lose jobs in the follow-up, not the estimate. AI agents responded to every new lead within seconds, sent personalized follow-ups to anyone who went quiet, and booked estimate appointments while Colin was on a job site. Nearly 70% of leads turned into estimates and over 40% of estimates became booked jobs. By mid-summer Colin had added a second crew and was booked nearly two months out.

The Website

We designed and built cbusconcrete.com from scratch: the brand, the copy, the photography, and the quote flow. More than 1 in 5 visitors become a lead. Click through and explore the live site exactly as Colin's customers see it.

The Work

A newly poured concrete driveway leading to a brick home in Columbus, Ohio
Driveway replacements like this one are the most requested job the campaigns bring in.
A stamped concrete patio finished to look like natural stone
Stamped concrete carries higher margins than standard flatwork, so the ads promote it heavily.
A finished backyard concrete patio with a table and umbrella
Backyard patios became a core service during the first season.
A new concrete walkway leading to the front porch of a brick ranch home
Walkways and front porch approaches round out the residential services.
Scalable helped me build a residential concrete brand from scratch: our website, SEO, ads, CRM, automations, and more. We passed $300K in our first year and couldn't be happier.
